2009 Island Packet 485

Ft. Pierce, Florida

This, like new, Island Packet 485 is far superior to a brand new model due to her turn key condition, extensive options and innovative modifications, all designed to make it easier to operate and maintain. This one owner vessel has been constantly improved upon since she was new and is quite likely the finest 485 ever built. Bottom just repainted late summer 2015 with new canvas enclosure in the same timeframe. Price reduced January 2016.

Accommodations and layout

The forward stateroom has a walk around double berth, numerous drawers and lockers, a private head with stall shower and seat, and several custom cabinetry features for increased storage. What's normally a third stateroom is located to starboard and has been converted to a workshop/laundry with washer/dryer, large metal tool cabinet with drawers, more custom drawers and lockers and a built-in icemaker. In the salon, large ocean rated safety windows are forward on the cabin house and on both sides opening ports with screens provide light and ventilation. All are fitted with attractive Peek-A-Boo shades which can be opened for light or closed for privacy. The starboard settee can be converted to make another double berth or both  settees can be used as comfortable single sea berths . A large dining table folds up against the main bulkhead. When not in use, an attractive smaller custom made cocktail table with matching ottomans provide additional seating and storage. Adjacent to the companionway to port is the spacious navigation station which includes a comfortable high backed swivel armchair, inlaid table with storage tray, and cabinetry which houses the AC and DC electrical panels and extensive navigational electronics. There's also a convenient wet locker nearby for hanging foul weather gear. This area is so impressive that Sail magazine best boat judges said:" Any offshore navigator would love to call this nerve center home. This is the best equpped nav station we've seen this year." The gourmet galley is located in the full headroom passageway between the salon and aft cabin. Double stainless steel sinks are inboard next to the engine room. Outboard are top loading, digitally controlled refrigerator and freezer compartments which are fullty gasketed with hydraulic lifting mechanisms. Another drawer type refrigerator is available for quick access to beverages and food.

Accommodations continued

In the forward end of the galley is a custom built, top loading trash cabinet which is hinged and is a big improvement over the factory location which was too close to the engine space. It also provides a great place for setting drinks and snacks since it's quite close to the starboard settee in the salon. Moving aft from the galley you enter the elegant owner's stateroom with an angled double walkaround berth, ensuite head and plenty of hanging lockers and drawers. A comfortable dressing seat to port makes it easy to put your shoes on. A door in the aft bulkhead provides inside access to the large lazarette storage area without having to go on deck. Both staterooms have an array of cabinets, lockers, drawers, and shelves, including hinged lids that lift to reveal blanket trays. Throughout the boat are numerous opening, overhead hatches with screens and shades, recessed overhead lights with custom LED bulbs, and some with individual dimmer controls. Both luxurious heads feature vanities with solid acrylic countertops. separate shower stalls with seats, folding acrylic shower doors and standard VacuFlush toilets with separate water supply.
